Behind the veil

As we become silent, peaceful, vast and impersonal to the point of being non-existent;
when we can truly say that we do not exist,
then an unbelievable, unsuspected veil is lifted, permitting us to see the Divine, the Eternal, the Infinite
Who unfolds Himself eternally for His delight of existence in various dimensions of time and space.

All is verily He, She, the marvellous, mystic, eternal, infinite Being
He is fully in the tiny spect of pollen as He is in the most brilliant sun.
For His delight of existence, He is hidden here, a little manifested there or more fully revealed elsewhere.
But, behind everything, comprehending everything and beyond everything,
He is the ever-unattainable, ineffable absolute.
Forever He runs vastly in front of any manifestation however high and magnificent;
yet, He is fully present in His absolute perfection in the heart of each little blossom in creation.

We must become profoundly silent, we must enter a state of complete self oblivion, and become truly zero.
then will be revealed to us that unalterable massive, concrete Divine Reality
Each heart and soul is His abode, each body and form is His living image
Each name and face is His self-creation.
In this material universe the utmost transcendence is packed in the heart of man.

That is why when our eyes are unsealed by His Grace, a  spontaneous prayer comes from our soul.
"You are forever eternally the Supreme Good, the most auspicious Benediction, the boundless Love.
May we never lose sight of You, may we give ourselves entirely with love and confidence into your hands.
May we be fully plastic and docile to your transforming influence and action;
for through every act, through every event and circumstance, through every feeling and thoughts,
we are coming nearer and nearer to You

May I desire nothing but Your Presence
that is the supreme Benediction,
May we call You in constantly until You stand eternally unveiled before us.

O supreme most auspicious Benediction, Benediction, Benediction.."

The passage of the Mother and Sri Aurobindo

Two gigantic stars have touched the earth
During a century, irradiated all in existence,
Raised hurricanes, waves high as mountains,
Swept continents, calmed the madness of men,
Widened narrow spirits, freed the soul of the earth
Sowed golden seeds in striving hearts.

The endless painful night of falsehood ends.
A new sun appears in the sky of the soul
The earth is covered with a golden, radiant dust.

The Mother is always present
Smiling in front of the awakened soul.

The Basic Attitude for yoga

Written by Niranjan Guha Roy - Sri Aurobindo Ashram 1977

The Basic Attitude for yoga

There is often confusion or wrong conceptions in our first approach to the yoga, our search for the Divine, then our path could be very uncertain, very mixed, dangerous and even frustrating. Why do we want to do the yoga? Is it from some vital, physical or mental motive? Is it for the realisation of some personal dream, some, ambition, even some sublime altruistic aim? Is it for my material well-being, protection and happiness for me and for my family and my country or the world? Why do I want the Divine, what is my aim? Is it the acquisition of power over elemental forces, people, the world? None of these aims qualify one to do the yoga. The noblest and truest aim of the yoga is the irresistible attraction that one feels somewhere deep in oneself, an attraction for the Mystery, for the Origin, the Source of our existence, God, the Eternal, the Mother who calls us from beyond, a call so irresistible that no price is too high to pay, no attachment too great to break, no undertaking too heavy to undertake. We are ready to do anything and everything, whatever is required from us, however long the journey might be, however difficult and dangerous the path might be. We feel the irresistible urge to leave behind everything, to follow blindly, joyously the supreme Piper of Hameline. Then, we are sure to reach Him. Unless we have heard his call, the strains of his flute playing his music; unless we have felt his intoxication, that mysterious call which goes out to the explorers for the adventures, for the fathomless Infinities; unless we have had a glimpse of his ravishingly beautiful face and limbs molded from the substance of delight; unless we have heard his voice which takes away all smug peace , his command, which is a persecution and a frightful torment unless executed; unless the Eternal has touched us with his magic wand, we cannot be awakened, we cannot pursue the path. So, for this yoga, one has to be absolutely sure that one has been called, that one is predestined, that one has eventually no other work, no other commitment, no other duty except to follow the yoga, to serve the Divine, to become a simple and pure instrument. This must be the goal, whether achieved in a short time, or even in a few lifetimes. Unless one can take this attitude, or more correctly one has this attitude, one cannot be called fit for this yoga. But if one has even in the smallest degree the aspiration to belong to the Divine, to obey and serve the Divine, to surrender to Him his life and works, his past, present and future, a willingness to be broken and gradually remolded by his vision and power, a yearning to be close to Him, to live in his Presence, to serve and love Him, to possess nothing, to be nothing, then also is justified the undertaking of the yoga - for the little submerged aspiration will grow with the true attitude, a glowing fire of self-sacrifice. The path of yoga is extremely difficult and dangerous because all the established world forces in this world or in invisible worlds are against the divine realisation, for it means the end of their domination and sovereignty; but if one has the true call and the right attitude, then the absolute Divine protection is with us, his love and guidance and above all his joy (not that the battles, the encounters or prolonged wars would be completely eliminated, but they will be more as adventures as the odyssey of the soul in company with the Creator, the Divine, the Mother). This right attitude is so important in this yoga that we have to constantly re-establish it in various parts of our being until finally our whole being would be in a state of glad surrender and total submission to the Divine. We must have patience for it is a long and difficult work
The Success is for the one who can endure says the Mother

This Yoga of Sri Aurobindo is a spiritual revolution

This Yoga of Sri Aurobindo is a spiritual revolution
'The Synthesis of Yoga' will be a wonderful lifelong friend. You will find in it almost everything connected with the yoga of the Mother and Sri Aurobindo. One day, the future generations will recognise in them the most beautiful and forceful English ever written. 'Savitri' is the epic story of the aspiring human soul step by step rising to the Divinity. It is also the story of the Divine Himself coming down on earth in two bodies for the elevation of the race. In a symbolic way, the story of Savitri and Satyavan is the story of the Eternal's birth in time as dual powers, opening the sealed Heavens of Supramental consciousness in the earth evolution, thus fulfilling the long made promise of the Divine Kingdom on earth. Man evolved out of apes and took some four million years. The divine man of course will not take so long to appear but even then, we should not expect something spectacular before five to 10,000 years. Then will probably appear the true Supramental being with a Supramental body. Long before that happens, there will be a large number of individuals appearing on the earth scene with more or less advanced spiritual mutations. At this moment what is truly within our possibility is the gradual transformation of the human mind into an instrument of Supramental light and consciousness, the transformation even of our vital being into an instrument of the divine consciousness, transformation of the subtle physical being into an instrument of light, transformation of even certain occult powers and functions of the physical body. The penetration of the higher force meets an enormous resistance from the lower instruments. As we come down from the more subtle elements of our being to the most material part of our being, our body, the difficulties due to inherent incapacity, apathy, the resistance increases almost in a geometric progression. The descent of the spiritual forces let loose all that is under the mental, vital and psychological control, all that is hidden, covert, involved, subconscious and unconscious. At any moment the disaster may come if the soul, the psychic being, is not fully developed and has not become the leader of the yoga and leader of our being, the Priest of our sacrifice. Under the tension and pressure of the descending spiritual forces, even if the worst catastrophes in the mind and vital are averted, the pressure and pain in the body is at most times literally unbearable. That is why Mother and Sri Aurobindo have stressed so much on bringing down peace into the very cells of the body. Peace increases the receptivity of the body, of the entire being in all its ranges. Our Rishis of the Vedas knew about this aspect of the yoga, and in their language they express that "an unbaked jar cannot hold the Divine Soma" (the supreme Felicity of the divine Consciousness) "and it invariably breaks." ditr earthly body is really weak, fragile, in a simple image one might say, it is like trying to put the power of a huge locomotive engine into a little toy engine. Our being and body have to be accustomed slowly to the assaults of divine flame and thunder, tempest, floods and whirlwinds. We are so constituted that even a touch of peace makes the vital restless. When there are no thoughts in our mind, we get alarmed and if we feel for a moment any absence of desire, at once we attribute it to some abnormality or illness. So, the power has to work very slowly over a long period in order to accustom ourselves to higher states of consciousness. The centres open one by one till all the centres from head to foot are fully open and active. The power works in one centre or another or in a number of them according to the need of the transformation. The power works to open the consciousness to its divine influence and it works at the same time to increase the receptivity of the lower elements and parts of our being. It is a long and difficult process, yet in terms of evolution, it takes thousands of years for a slight modification of our psychological being.
This yoga is a revolution compressing the work of centuries and centuries into a few years, into a lifetime. We are going at an evolutionary breakneck speed, on the high road of spiritual destiny. Inattention, non-collaboration, absence of vigilance may cause a disaster at any moment. That is why in this yoga we have to be really serious and sincere . The more we give in a sincere attitude, the more we receive from the Divine. Our sincerity is the best protection. We meet in the world what we seek. We see in the world what we are capable of seeing. We achieve in life what we really want to achieve. So, if it is our absolute sincere aspiration to be in union with the Divine, to live in his presence and be instruments of his faith and love, then, the Divine will be at every step with us preparing circumstances and the ground for the fulfillment of our aspiration. As our mind will get quieter, more and more flashes from higher regions of thoughts and light will come into our mind. They will seem quite foreign, having no relation with our habitual thoughts and ideas, they will carry in them a different vibration, a different intensity. They have a different sense of dimensions. we should not get afraid or disturbed.
As our consciousness will deepen, our grasp of time as a dimension will broaden into an infinity. All has been there all the time, what is past or future. All is there, all the time. The manifestation is a condition, process of unveiling in material time and space.

On Peace

Peace
The thing most sought after in the world and at the same time the most disliked by men is peace. When it is there, women or men, are bored. When it is absent, they complain "I haven't got a minute of respite! I am harassed mercilessly by a thousand things - it is a real hell." Peace is always there, like the air we breathe. It is always accessible. It can become permanent in our consciousness, in our being. It is, in short, the presence of God, the Spirit, an aspect of the tangible form of the Supreme Creator.Read more

The psychic being and the yoga of Sri Aurobindo

The integral yoga of Sri Aurobindo, the yoga of the future, is based on the emergence of the psychic being.
As soon as the psychic being comes out even so little
He brings with him the love or rather the adoration for the Supreme and his incarnations.
This love-adoration is part of the very substance of the psychic being.
Not to feel that love is a sure sign that the psychic being has not yet emerged.
It will come in time as it is the destiny of everyone.

The round dance of the Lord

The Round Dance of the Lord

The friendly Lord goes from door in door
With presents for all to distribute:
The peace of the eternity, the divine joy, the truth
The light of the beyond, the immortal life.
In exchange He asks with a big smile
The poisons which destroy the soul and the body,
Blind passions, anger, intolerance, desires,
Violence, enjoyments, lies, and fears.
Cursing Him, people slam the door in his face.
To a passer-by, laughingly He offers his heavenly presents.
The unfortunate runs away as if unhappily
He met the devil himself,
The Lord always smiling continues his road.
In the middle of the night, He returns with a few faithful friends.
Looking at his basket still full, they sigh:
" People do not want to see You, why do you go to meet them!
They make fun of the divine truth. "
The Lord smiles:
“As long as the people are well, they laugh at the doctor.
I always wait for the patients who suffer
In their souls in this bitter society.
People are very unhappy but hang on to the ruined life,
For how long! ...A little more patience!”
Behind the disaster a magnificent Dawn is getting ready.
The Divine lives in the heart of everyone.
It is He who decides the blessed Hour.

The passing note

O Master Magician, no artist can paint thy elusive face
No sculptor can carve thy silhouette, no one can bind thee in a hame.

Thou O ever unknown stanger, my soul, my love
This magic of unfolding creation is only Thyself.

My life a passing note, O supreme musician, of thy symphony
One, individual, inalterable, absolute, immobile, silence
Infinite rays, mobile fragments, perpetual motion, delight.

This stupendous Presence pervades immeasurably all existence

O Mother Divine in Thy eternity
I discover my continuity

There is no other will except the Divine Will

There is no other will except the Divine Will
More than ever I am conscious of the Divine, the Divine as the world, the Divine in things and beings as the presiding Spirit and the Divine beyond the world and all manifestation, all of them forming what in the Indian spirituality we call the Brahman. In everything in the world, in the minutest cells and atoms and particles there is the presence of the Absolute Divine. That is why everything in the universe at anytime is as it is meant to be, as it must be. Everything is in constant movement and everything moves in the right direction at each moment through a vast and infinitely complex process. Nothing can go wrong for there is no other will except the Divine Will, there is no other Power except the Divine Force, there is nothing else except the Divine who is the constituting substance of the universe. What we see as chaos, disorder, ignorance and suffering, violence, death and disintegration is a very partial and necessarily a wrong view of things. The Creator who is the self-creation at each moment is the Supreme and Absolute Master of the situation. Everything is as it must be and everything will be as seen by the Divine. Our privilege is to become conscious of the Divine beyond the becoming and in the becoming. When we surrender to the Divine and allow His Will to shape our entire being, when “Thy Will be done” becomes the natural law of our being, then we are admitted into His ineffable Harmony which always exists.
