As you have noticed, I am changing plans as often as the moon changes its position. But all through, there is one theme, which is constant ‑, the body and its transformation to whatever degree possible by spiritual and material means. In the ordinary life nowadays, people have become very health conscious all over the world. It is the sign of an evolutionary progress. It is the result of a new divine power active in the earth atmosphere. But for us, this is not enough, for the body remains still bound to ignorance, closed to the divine power and consequently closed to new spiritual possibilities and capacities. The Divine can be experienced in the soul, mind and the vital. These are now accomplished facts in the terrestrial existence. Now the body has to experience the Divine in a very material way. In any case, first one has to become aware of the Divine in any part of the being, the soul, mind or life. Some people begin this yoga with spiritual experience in their body. The whole of the Agenda of the Mother is a record of Her experiences in the body. It is this aspect of the yoga which has the most fascinating attraction for me, as I am a true spiritual materialist. As a matter of fact, my sadhana began with the body and unless the spiritual consciousness is materialised in the body, opening new possibilities of permanent health and immunity from disease, accidents and decomposition, I feel our spiritual endeavor remains incomplete. On the other hand, I know if our body could become receptive to the great spiritual powers, then almost the impossible is possible. For us there is no choice. We must explore the possibilities, realise whatever is possible at the moment. Our attempt will pave the way for success later on. The Divine Mother Herself is our living guide and the transforming power.

Music and dance and physical education are wonderful means. The body has to be trained, prepared with aspiration and discipline to receive and retain the divine force for the effective transformation of the body consciousness. This is the first indispensable step and our preoccupation at this stage

About difficulties on the path of yoga – they are chosen by the secret soul in us for which there is no failure, no disaster but a constant growth towards a wider and wider consciousness through all experiences in life. The only thing I am sure of is the Divine, too, vast, too complex, too sublime for our limited consciousness. We are apparently perishable flowers and leaves on the infinite eternal Tree of Life, of the single divine existence. As they say in the sacred scriptures of India, “not even a blade of grass moves without His power, His sanction.” The salmon invariably comes back to its spawning ground, the bee builds its intricate honeycomb, man goes to the moon, or higher domains of consciousness. All is predetermined. We do what we are meant to do. We shall become what we are meant to be. We shall live if we are meant to live. We shall die if that be His Will. But nothing ever dies. There is only eternal change. Icebergs rise and dissolve in the sea.

We really do not know anything … how things are and what they will be. Nor can we change the course of things. We are just leaves floating down the great river of life, meeting other leaves on the way, whirling with them for a while, then separating or joining others. Then we fall apart, disintegrate, and are reformed again in Something unfathomable, forever secret and mysterious. Everywhere we meet It … in friend or foe, in good or bad, pleasant or unpleasant, that which is not limited by any expression. We do not know Its, His, Her ways. Our little intelligence tells us, it is the Author, the Creator, the Master, the Supreme in which we live and move and have our being. We are not real. Our individuality is a fiction. At best we are sparks of that Fire. By totally annulling ourselves, our separate existence, we can become aware of That which forever is. The more we become responsive to its touch, the more we enter into a peaceful, joyful harmony. It is His world. It is His play. We cannot alter it in the least bit. Let us play it out, interpret our parts as best as we can. Thy Will be done.
